Symptom

You are a Bitpalace ValueWebspace user. There is only one database available. But you have several domains and want to use Wordpress or Joomla there.

Solution

In the Bitpalace Business Booster Webspace you do not need to worry about this question, because there are as many databases as you want. You can create one or more separate databases for each website. Only if you have rented a single database only with the web space (for example Bitpalace ValueWebspace), the following solution is interesting for you:

Wordpress and Joomla use table name prefixes. During installation, a unique prefix is set so that the same tables in the same database can be distinguished by different prefixes in the name. As a result, you can run any number of similar Wordpress or Joomla websites with just one single database. All tables share the same database and do not bother each other because the table names that belong to a particular site begin with a different string.

If you install Wordpress or Joomla from the application archive with a mouse click, the installation creates a new database. It is therefore not possible to use multiple applications installed from the application archive in a web space that only allows a single database. If you want to run multiple Wordpress or Joomla installations in the same database, you must first create an empty database yourself. Then upload the installation files from Wordpress or Joomla into the appropriate webspace directory. Then call the URL of the domain in the web browser and start the installation yourself.

During installation, you can set the table name prefix yourself. Choose a different prefix for each installation. As a result, the applications create their tables with a different name so that the tables cannot interfere with each other in the database.
